Archaeological Museum of Bologna

News / Events to remember / PART OF THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE MUSEUM REOPENS

After more than a year of closure, motivated by a big roof renovation, from Saturday, November 24th, 2018, a small - but significant - part of the first floor of the Archaeological Museum of Bologna reopens.

The Prehistoric section, which displays artifacts related to the early phases of human presence in the Bologna territory, from Palaeolithic to Bronze Age, and the adjacent room of Prehistoric Comparisons, can now be visited again.

But the novelty is, above all, another one: the room dedicated to the settlement of Etruscan Bologna reopens, completely re-fitted with old showcases and modern informations. Daily life, housing, craft and production activities, sacred areas, will be illustrated by archaeological findings and by panels and captions in two languages, Italian and English.

To have the perception of all the importance of Felsina Princeps, as the Ancients called the Etruscan Bologna, we have to wait for the fall 2019, when the Museum will return to be visited in its entirety.

In addition to the reopened rooms at the First Floor, the rich Egyptian collection, the third one in Italy, and the lapidarium, displayed between the entrance hall and the courtyard, can be regularly visited.

The collections relating to the history of Bologna (part of Etruscan Bologna, Celtic Bologna, Roman Bologna), Verucchio Room, Gipsoteca and Greek, Etrusco-Italic and Roman collections are still not accessible until fall 2019.
